Your dental plan is designed to help reduce the cost of your dental
care. It is a wonderful benefit to have for routine maintenance and traditional
one tooth at a time dental care. However, if you are seeking state of the art
dental care for improved appearance, comfort and longevity your dental insurance
plan will not usually cover all of your treatment options. For that reason,
and to avoid being limited to the “usual and customary” care promoted
by such plans, we do not participate as “preferred” providers.
We do, though, pride ourselves on helping you get the maximum insurance benefit
for any dental care that you and Dr. Twichell have agreed is indicated. We will
submit your dental insurance claims and for most plans that pay our office directly,
we ask that you pay your portion at the time of your appointment or make a financial
arrangement prior to your appointment.
Because the following plans will not pay our office directly, we will require
payment in full at the time of service or a prior arrangement.

- Excellus
- GHI
- Delta
- NYS Teamsters
For treatment that may go beyond your dental budget we offer outside
financing plans to help you achieve the dental care you deserve. We offer interest
free plans as well as extended plans that may charge an interest rate.
A few facts about dental insurance:
- Dental insurance is not to be a “ PAY-ALL”
only an aid.
- Many plans tell their insured that they will be covered
up to 80% to 100% when in fact these percentages are based on a fee schedule
devised by the insurance company and your employer, not your dentist.
- Each plan utilizes different percentages, deductibles
and maximums that the plan will allow. We will do our best to make as close
a calculation as possible of what your insurance will cover. However, there
may be variances for which the patient is responsible.
- Some routine dental services are NOT covered; we make
our recommendations based on your dental needs not what the insurance may
or may not cover.
